Africa Agenda 2063 – Aspiration 6: An Africa whose development is people driven, relying on the potential of African people, especially its women and youth, and caring for children.
Africa has the most youthful population of all the regions in the world thus presenting a huge potential for creation, innovation and entrepreneurship. AfriCAN believes that this potential, if mobilized and harnessed, can turn the African nutrition narrative towards a positive direction.
The AfriCAN “Good Nutrition Starts With Me” Youth Initiative was rolled out from September 2023 to November 2024 with the support of a grant from the Rockefeller Foundation. Three countries were selected: Cameroon, Gambia and Ghana with AfriCAN working through their respective nutrition coordinating bodies as entry points for all activities. More than a 100 youths and media practitioners participated and completed a Capacity Enhancement program on
Nutrition Security including Nutrition along the lifecycle and also voluntarily signedCommitment Cards detailing actions to improve their own nutrition, their households and their communities.
Phase-1 of the initiative has now been completed and a stakeholders’ webinar is being held to:
